언렬 5.1에서 플러그인 테스트했다고 올린 게시물에 누군가 피드백을 남겼는데.

1-1. a bit granular .. 라는 표현을 처음 봐서 찾아보니, 오돌토돌하고 알갱이, 입자가 보이는 텍스처에 쓰이는 표현이다. 자글자글하다 정도의 의미. 
a granular texture 처럼. 

Last time I checked, the imported VDBs seems a bit granular or pixelated when you go closeup

unless a path tracer was used. Is that still the case currently? 

저번에 보니까 임포트한 VDB가 클로즈업/줌인 해보니까 약간 자글자글하고 픽셀 나가보이던데..네가 저번에 사용한 패스 트레이서 때문이 아니라면, 아직도 이 케이스가 발생하고 있어? 
( 너 저번꺼 줌인해서 보니까 픽셀나가고 자글자글하게 그레인 튀던데, 얘도 그러냐? 정도의 의미) 

granular: made of, or seeming like, granules 알갱이, 오돌토돌한 텍스처 

1-2. 2nd meaning /   외에 granular가 비즈니스 영어에서도 쓰이는데.

여기선 사전적 의미 그대로의 알갱이 입자의 의미지만, 그만큼 세세하고 자잘한 업무를 말할때도 granular를 쓴다.
explaining the fine details의 의미이고. 이게 명사형으로는 granularity인데, high, sufficient level of detail 세분화의 의미로 쓰인다. 

The CEO and CFO see the bottom line of the cost of your department more clearly than they see the success of individual projects. They're not idiots. They can get granular if they have to, but what they really want to know is if the total cost of IT is worth the output.

여기서 granular는 걔네가 자잘하게/세세하게 보고싶다면 볼수 있지만~ 의 맥락에서 쓰였다.

3. VDB

VDB; 오픈VDB 파일 형식으로 구름/포그 효과 같은 볼륨 이펙트를 산출한 데이터베이스다. 블랜더, 시포디, 후디니, 랜더맨 등 소프트웨어에서 지원되고, 처음으로 Puss in Boots, 라는 2011년도 영화에서 쓰였고 잘 알려진 영화로는 가디언즈 2012년도에 쓰였다. VDB라고 해서 처음엔 Visual DataBase 정도로 생각했는데, 더 다양한 예시가 나와있으므로 마지막 문단 참고.

OpenVDB is an open source software library for working with sparse volumetric data. It provides a hierarchical data structure and related functions to help with calculating volumetric effects in CGI applications. Volumetric effects apply to volumes, as opposed to just on surfaces. An example is fog.

Specifically catering for feature film production, the library was originally developed by DreamWorks Animation and is currently maintained by the Academy Software Foundation (ASWF). The primary authors are Ken Museth, Peter Cucka, Mihai Aldén, and David Hill. OpenVDB is written in C++ and has Python bindings.

OpenVDB is supported in a wide range of CGI software, such as Blender (since April 2016), Cinema 4D, Houdini, and RenderMan. It was first used in the films Puss in Boots (2011)[1] and Rise of the Guardians (2012).

What does VDB stand for?
Over the years VDB has been interpreted to mean different things, none of which are very descriptive: "Voxel Data Base", "Volumetric Data Blocks", "Volumetric Dynamic B+tree", etc. In early presentations of VDB even a different name was used, "DB+Grid", which was abandoned to emphasize its distinction from similarly named, but different, existing sparse data structures like DT-Grid or DB-Grid. The simple truth is that "VDB" is just a name.[2]
